Crapshoot is an arena survival game where you kill enemies to get to dice to upgrade your stats to better kill enemies to get more dice to upgrade more stats to kill more enemies, etc.

The goal of the game is to survive for as long as you can with as high a score that you can achieve in that time.

You start with all of your stats set to 1 and must find dice to roll for a chance to upgrade each of those stats, each to a maximum of 12. Stats decrease over time so there's always a good reason to roll - but be warned if you roll a lower number than your current stat, the stat will be decreased to that value!

In addition to stat benefits, rolling can also unlock temporary perks.

Perks

Rolling doubles get you temporary perks.

  • 1+1 "Snake Eyes" - aim down sights for more accurate aim
  • 2+2 "Health" - regain some health
  • 3+3 "Slide" - ability to quickly slide around the arena
  • 4+4 "SlowMo" - the game slows down
  • 5+5 "Dash" - ability to dart and dodge around the arena
  • 6+6 "Nuke" - kills all enemies currently alive

  • WASD - Move
  • LMB - Shoot
  • RMB - Snake Eyes*
  • F - Roll Dice
  • Space - Jump
  • Shift - Dash*
  • CTRL/C - Slide*
  • ESC - Pause/Options Menu

*Perk required

  • When throwing a single dice, only the accuracy stat is effected - so unless you want to upgrade accuracy, you'll need to get an additional dice to throw
  • AI has trouble moving a lot of the time - sorry about that
  • There's no music (we forgot to hook it up in the shipping build - oops)

Thanks for playing! We're sorry about the rough edges, but we were rather out of scope on this one. We hope you still enjoy your time with Crapshoot and feel generous enough to give our game a rating here: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-jam-2022/rate/1622074
